I just got back from Charlotte North Carolina workforce professionals that are part of the US conference of mayors workforce development Council we had quite a good meeting.
We discussed some of the national trends in what's happening with our system as well as the legislation that is potentially the past finally after 14 years delay to reauthorize the workforce investment act. The staffers up on the hill are mildly optimistic this might finally come to pass. The house passed to their version of the bill in the Senate I believe either pastor will pass version of their bill and therefore will go to conference committee at that point hopefully things will be hashed out in a way that doesn't compromise local control which is our biggest concern and utilizes the strength of our system that we have in place now for over 15 years and starts to work with it in a way that supports what were trying to do instead of continually decreasing the funding that comes to us.
This group of peers are some of the best in the business and I always enjoy eating up with them and sharing best practices which is what we're all trying to accomplish.
As CareerSource Capital Region, we are constantly looking at the local labor market in assessing the impacts it has on job seekers and employers that we work with. Hoping that as time goes on were able to really begin to impact the barriers and issues in a more integral way instead of the type of activities from the federal point of view that may be competitive but is having a fragmenting impact on the system. You shared that view assistant secretary of labor became to visit with us at this meeting.
The system has much to offer and helps thousands and thousands of people that are searching for a job. We need to be recognized for the good work that we do in every nook and cranny in the United States and be judged on our overall output and competencies as we continue to try and match demand-side the supply side of this economy.
If you have any thoughts be sure and share them with me as a comment. I would appreciate it.
